I think there should be a soap series about barns ... and I know they'd get a good show with ours ... it has so much drama in it that sometimes you want to laugh, sometimes you want to hit someone ... or have all kinds of emotions. We've been at this barn for about 11/12 years now and it's gone from my second home and a paradise to a rotting hell whole. We knew the barn owner planned on selling it for development once her kids were out of high school, she has two kids left in high school, two that have passed college, and she's deciding she doesn't want to wait another two years like she said at the last 'barn-meeting' so she's been telling everyone (except us) that we need to start looking NOW instead of a year from now. We don't know when she's gonna expect us to be off her property but you know what, whether or not you've had personal issues with one of your boarders, you should still as a barn manager/owner have the balls to tell us to our faces of what's going on you know? I mean if we just had the one or two horses it might be different, but we have four, two are ponies and most barns these days do not accept ponies. It's aggravating because I KNOW ... well we ALL know why the owner refuses to talk to my mom ... because my mom was the barn manager for a year or two and when people started doing nuts behind her back she quit ... there was a bunch of stuff that lead to her quitting the position ... but the barn owner/manager not giving her any support or advice what-so-ever was what tipped the ice berg so to speak and now the barn owner refuses to talk to my mom directly unless she absolutely has to ... instead she calls my sister and me on the house phone or our cells... and I'm getting to the point of just wanting to be OUT of there.
We've been looking for property for awhile anyways because my sister wants to go to get a vet degree at MS state since they're one of the better choices for vet school anyways, and we've been looking in MS, but now she's considering UT in Knoxville ... and we may be able to start looking for land in TN which will be easier for my dad so he won't have to worry about commuting to work too far ... he doesn't want to get a new job ... we're looking for land of no less than 15 acres, preferably fenced in (decent fencing that won't require too much repairs) and a barn ... if we have to build a house we will but we're hoping it has it all ... we're gonna be having about 6 horses (hopefully) on the property, our four, plus my mom's friend at our current location, and a new horse for my Mom and me to ride .... and with the way land is going these days in the economy and the horse world not as active as it used to be, it's not looking that promising. The only other option would just to be to sell the horses and we're not doing that unless there's absolutely no chance in hell we're getting out of our current barn ... I'd love to say we're moving by the end of next week to our new place, but it ain't happening because rumors spread at our barn now, and it's getting old and there's just too much tension .. I used to enjoy going to the barn, but now I cringe at the idea of "having" to go to it anymore... I only go now because I take care of another horse that's not mine and I've known him since he was a young colt ... that's the only reason I go anymore ... I don't like talking to too many people at the barn, especially not the owner or the owner of the horse I take care of (which that's a different story) ... it's just getting so old and tiring.
